HireClix Stories: Building A Better Career Site For High Volume Hiring
The Challenge

When the Ninety Nine Restaurants needed to elevate their career site, they partnered with HireClix. The Ninety Nine Restaurants is a well-known casual dining chain with over 100 locations across the Northeastern United States. Their existing site, hosted by another vendor, was outdated in both design and functionality. This led to a poor candidate experience, increased bounce rates, and lower application volume. Upgrading their career site became critical in order to support their high volume hiring needs.
With a one month turnaround time to launch a fresh and engaging new platform, the HireClix Career Site Services team stepped in to enhance the site’s usability and design. The goal was to create a more candidate-centric site that would boost visibility and application volume while ensuring a seamless transition from the previous platform.
The Approach
As a consumer-facing brand engaged with both customers and employees, it was important to upgrade the career site experience and better reflect the positive and well-respected nature of their consumer brand. HireClix led the strategy, creative design, and execution of the career site transformation, focusing on leveraging fresh brand assets, personalization, easier navigation, and improving the overall candidate experience. Zeroing in on these key elements was important to the Ninety Nine Restaurants team in order to drive more qualified applicants and improve conversion rates. Two features in particular were important to execute on these goals: the creation of location-based landing pages, as well as adding HireClix’s Second Chance pages to the entire career site.
Location-Based Landing Pages

While ‘work from home’ or remote roles continue to be prevalent, the Ninety Nine Restaurants does not have this luxury. To support the restaurants’ high volume hiring needs, the HireClix Career Site Services team implemented location-based landing pages. These pages enable local Ninety Nine Restaurants managers to highlight location-specific job openings, making it easier to attract candidates in their area, and provide opportunity for future personalization efforts. In addition, these localized pages allow for store-specific recruiting efforts with QR codes and provide a boost for search engine optimization on Google and other search engines.
Second Chance Pages

HireClix’s Second Chance pages were built to enhance the candidate experience when a job no longer exists by redirecting job seekers to relevant and active job suggestions based on the location or job title, thus encouraging them to pursue alternative but similar career opportunities within the company. Too often, candidates are led to a career site where the individual job page is associated with an expired job posting. Typically, when a job seeker hits this “dead end”, they will either abandon their search with this employer or start their search again from the home page of the career site. This innovative career site feature maintains candidate interest, encourages continued exploration of opportunities, and ultimately increases candidate conversions rates.
The Results

Due to the active partnership between HireClix and the Ninety Nine Restaurants HR team, the new career site launched successfully within the one-month window and delivered immediate, measurable improvements. The core career site functionality provides a better search experience, boosts on-site user engagement, and significantly enhances visibility through search engine optimization. Within two months of launch, the number of Ninety Nine Restaurants job applications coming from Google Jobs increased by over 700%, dramatically expanding the visibility of open positions on the world’s largest search engine. This increase in exposure, in combination with an improved candidate experience, contributed to an overall 122% year-over-year increase in application volume, demonstrating the site’s effectiveness of converting job seekers to applicants.

The introduction of the Second Chance pages also played a crucial role in improving candidate engagement and expanded their time on the career site. With this new feature, 10% of site visitors interacted with these pages, where they were redirected to relevant and active job opportunities instead of hitting an error page and potentially exiting the site. The time candidates spent on the Second Chance pages, rather than abandoning their search, showcased a meaningful improvement in candidate experience. HireClix’s data-driven, candidate-first approach not only solved immediate challenges but also set the Ninety Nine Restaurants up for long-term recruiting success.
